In the business major you complete courses in core content and electives from accounting, business, and economics. Upon completing the business major, you will be prepared to work professionally in the business world.”

Successfully complete a minimum of 69-71 credits in the Core and Elective requirements as described below.

Completing these requirements will satisfy both the Communication in the Major and Capstone Experience.

Core

In general, try to complete the core classes in approximately this sequence. The courses near the beginning of the list serve as prerequisites for courses near the end of the list.

Calculus, 3-4 credits

Take one of:

MATH 109 - Mathematics for the Social and Management Sciences 4 cr.
MATH 111 - Applied Calculus 4 cr.
MATH 120 - Calculus I 4 cr.

Note

If you anticipate doing advanced study in a field such as Actuarial Science, you should take MATH 120 .

Economics, 6 credits

ECON 110 - Principles of Macroeconomics 3 cr. and
ECON 111 - Principles of Microeconomics 3 cr.
or
ECON 200 - Principles of Economics 3 cr. and
An additional 3 credits in 200-400 level Economics coursework. You may not take ECON 497 or ECON 498 to satisfy this requirement. Classes you take as part of other requirements of the major do not satisfy this requirement.

Accounting, 6 credits

Statistics, 3-4 credits

MATH 355 - Elementary Statistical Methods 4 cr. or other approved statistic courses:
MATH 354 - Applied Statistics 4 cr. or
FOR 321 - Forest Biometry 4 cr. or
PSYC 300 - Statistics for Psychologists 4 cr. or

Business, 18 credits

BUS 325 - Organizational Behavior 3 cr.
BUS 330 - Principles of Marketing 3 cr.

Successfully complete an additional 24 credits in the SBE, 200-level or above, not including ACCT 498 , BUS 496 , BUS 498 , ECON 200 , or ECON 498 . To add Business Administration major to another SBE major, complete at least 18 additional credits.
