Spanish Minor for Teacher Certification

Consists of 21 credits in courses at the 300/400 level. If you are an elementary education major and do not intend to be certified to teach a foreign language in middle school, you may complete the regular 15-credit Spanish Minor .

SPAN 313 - Intermediate Spanish Conversation 3 cr.
SPAN 314 - Intermediate Spanish Composition 3 cr.
SPAN 340 - Introduction to Literature 3 cr.
SPAN 345 - Advanced Conversation and Composition 3 cr.
SPAN 420 - Phonetics and Phonology 3 cr.

Take one of the following courses

SPAN 481 - Spanish Culture and Civilization 3 cr.
SPAN 482 - Hispanic Culture and Civilization in the U.S. 3 cr.
SPAN 483 - Spanish American Culture and Civilization 3 cr.

Foreign Language Education Courses

FLED 333 - Teaching Second Languages 3 cr.
FLED 398 - Student Teaching in Foreign Language 1-16 cr. or
FLED 498 - Intern Teaching 1-16 cr.
FLED 400 - Seminar on Teaching for Student Teachers 1-2 cr. (take 1 cr.) taken concurrently with FLED 398 or FLED 498
